Horrid owner finally had the vet yesterday to her poor suicidal mare and basically the vet b*****ked her, poor thing has a pulse in all four feet, the vet asked how long it had been in and when she told him 3 weeks (really only 2 weeks) he was horrified, he though she had come in like it the day before, so anyway, he has told her to give her one and half slices of last years hay at night and one slice in the day, she has got to be starved as such and get her weight down, she is on bute and sedalin to slow the blood flow down and owner has to update vet in 48 hours (Thursday) as to how the poor mare is going, if not good then has to go in and have x-rays. So fingers crossed that this horrid owner gets the poor mare sorted. Feel so so sorry for her. Anyway that is all folks just thought I would update you on her and the fact that this owner really really should not have horses.....

Oh and she told me last night that it wasn't her fault that the mare was like this, so would somebody tell me who's fault it is, because I am either very stupid or thick, she owns it, IT'S HER FAULT......

Glad the vet came and gave her a right talking to. Do you think she will pay for the xrays if it comes to it? Poor little mare, she really doesn't deserve an owner like that. Thank goodness you and YO took some action. Just hope it isn't too late for the mare.

Not surprised you want to wring her neck. Why do these people have horses when they don't look after them and obviously find them a big inconvenience?

Hope the poor mare is more comfortable now.

Oh this person certainly does find her horse a bit inconvenience, when the mare was out in the field the own wouldn't come down for days, sometimes even weeks.... What a cow bag.

Really do feel sorry for this mare, she an old girl too and really doesn't deserve to be treated like this.....

I'm hoping she will, but you never know, if she doesn't then myself and YO will be on at her again. Your right about this poor mare not deserving this treatment, she is rather depressed at the moment too............ I'm also hoping it's not too late.......

Because the owner couldn't afford it...........COW BAG...
So YO got after her to get the vet out, atleast she did bring her in off the grass, but unfortunately she carried on giving her good quality hay and some feed.
Also she's the sort of person who is full of excuses and SHE KNOWS BEST sort of attitude. But atleast the little mare is been sorted........

.............and breathe...........at least the vet is there now, and has told her what they think of her horse management skills.....we have one a bit like that - her bl**dy pony escaped AGAIN last night, ate Donkey's breakfast and was well down Donkey's bin of tiger oats AGAIN

Hope the vet's words sank in, but somehow I doubt it. You did the right thing keeping on at the YO to do something, well done. I hope the mare will be ok, but if the owner carries on keeping her in the same way it might be kinder if she was put to sleep - at least she wouldn't be suffering in what should be her restful last years.

The vet that came to her is very good as well and doesn't skirt round the issue, so he would have told her what for................Oh bugger, that is terrible.............poor Donkey, bet she was not best please. God if it was one of mine I'd bet mortified, and yes watching it like a hawk..........

I somehow don't think they will either, feel for this mare......she is the same age as my old chap and they are so so different in appearance and health and my boy has bone disease in both front cannons........ but if you watched him chasing my three ladies round the field you would think he was about 4 and sound as a pound.....
