So it seems Pip has turned a corner, and gone from a fire breathing dragon into a complete dope! I have to say I prefer him like this
We had dressage on Wednesday, Novice 27. I thought it was an okay test, bit flat but no mistakes, though I did have to kick him around a bit! Came out of the test having worked harder than him
The judge did smile at us, which I am totally unused to, so although I have had the odd pity-smile in the past, I felt quite reassured that I didn't totally flunk it!
But again, totally shocked;
Second place! He got 65.54%, and the winner was on 65.71%, so very, very close!
So Pippy has got 15 points in his first month of doing Affiliated
Going back a year, if anyone had told me he would get a single point, I wouldn't have believed them! Going back to before I got him, if anyone told me I would be riding BD, I would have laughed! So very proud of how far the little man has come!
I found this the other day, which was my first ever ride on him!
I am away now for three weeks, and my friend who has going to look after him has broken her foot! So he is going for a little holiday with my instructor. I'm really hoping the change of scenery won't freak him out, and that she can polish up a couple of his movements. (can he do mediums like Valegro plz?) Another first for me, never had anyone else ride him, or even sent a horse to be schooled, so both excited and nervous!
And a little more on the new guy! He's technically for my mum, but I will definitely steal him to do some dressage! He's five, imported from Ireland, not really done much apart from hacking. About 16hh? Total smooshkin. He also has no name
He is loooovely. We JUST about managed to see him first, by phoning the minute his picture went up - he had a waiting list of people viewing as long as your arm
Weirdly he was at a yard literally down the road from where my mum grew up, so we reckon it was meant to be
He's settled in really well, now walks on and off the trailer like a pro, and has been out for a little potter and was an absolute star!
