As the arena is 200m from his stable thought I'd have my first competion weekend for 2 months.

Dressige first, was talked out of doing my first ever elementary for a laugh by trainer and OH/owner, so did novice 25. Not too bad, starting to take the contact down and forwards and not curling back. Broke in the medium trot, so just cracked 60%. OH videoed and he did look much better, so as pleased as one could be.

SJ next, did the 1.05, and he went round at a nice pace until no. 7 a skinny wall with .....A TIMING GATE the other side. Sadly he didn't see it til the last minute so when the inevitable spook came I couldn't catch him so he dived out left. He got several smacks and so we took the last four at a gallop, and had 2 so finished with 12 penalties. We just never seem to jump well at competitions at home.
He's a fab horse who can make you look really good, sadly today was "make dad look a tit" day!!!! Off to look at eventing photos to cheer me up.

Anchovy stuffed olives and pink pinot grigio for getting this far, oh no take that back MG (OH not horse) has finished them already!!!

Ooops! I have to say your SJ afternoon didn't start well when you had the argument with the picture frame in the cafe (how hard can it be to stand an inanimate object up...?!

Well done anyway - not too bad after 2 months off!
