There's no right or wrong answer, just interested what people think.
He's about 11 hh,he moves and behaves like a Welshie, but there are no dun Welshies. There's a possibility he might be French, he has a generic BHS passport but first language is French. Dealer handed me about 5 or 6, all new, all the same, said "does one say Charlie, 'cos I can't read"

His colour says Highland to me but obviously with something smaller in the mix, possibly Welsh a as he is a bit finer than I would expect of a shetland cross but he could easily be of Scottish origin.

Thanks all, he's stocky enough to have Highland or Fjord, but I really can't see any Shetland, he's got the high knee/hock action that Welsh have and he's as sharp as a tack :)

I thought Shetland x fjord until you mentioned the movement. But isn't he a little beauty?

I also see fjord. I love the dorsal stripe. My chestnut has one too. He also has bend Or markings and a patch of palomino coloured hair on one flank.

I'd say there was Highland in there too but given the size I would more say grand parent so could easily have some Welsh thrown in. I don't see Shetland in there to be honest, I see more Highland. It doesn't matter what you cross a shetland with it will always end up butt ugly and out of proportion! The colour would come from the Highland.

There is Dun in the Welsh breeds but more the pale, cream duns not silver duns.

Don't be misled by the french first in the passport, my understanding was that it was a requirement by the French to accept our passports and the EU went along with it..

He is a cracking little pony. My first gut feeling was highland or fjord until I saw his height.

Very cute pony! Definitely a native breed. I have a highland pony partbred and they generally have bigger heads though so I wouldn’t suggest highland. I would suggest a fjord x smaller breed e.g(possibly Shetland???)

Yep, I would say it’s definitely not a highland pony but a similar breed for sure (these pics are from my highland pony’s sire)653CD94A-BC9A-4968-9781-C721B14B0BD6.jpeg7EB1E4DC-C9FE-46D4-8D55-9748B077E563.jpegD011D3B9-FEE2-4962-8168-06EA27238963.jpeg
