My cob is black. She has a black (dappled) body, white blaze, black mane (with a few flecks of grey) 3 white socks, a small white patch under her stomach (that looks like a duck!) and a mostly black tail with an almost chestnut running through the bottom half.
What colour would you call her?

Black, probably tobiano? Or something else, I'm not sure what patterns that breed usually have. Could be sabino but that usually gives tickling and odd patterns too, yours doesn't seem to have that. Pretty little horse either way.

@Korg typically tobiano spots cross the midline of the back even when minimal (except in minus) rather than producing belly splashes. Most British breeds aren't tested for sabino so it's unclear how prolific it is. There a lot of sabino like patterns that seem to be untestable currently.

Sometimes they are very, very slow to grey out and the first sign is the bottom of the tail greys, but I think there would have been some other signs by 4.

My cob is like this!

Random untestable white hairs across her body, but there aren’t enough for her to be roan. Some white hairs in her mane and tail, a slightly red tinge to the ends of most of the black hairs in her mane and tail! In summer, she gets a very faint reddish tinge to her coat, but it’s consistent and seems to fit a bay patterning enough that I don’t think it’s a copper deficiency. She’s also got the blagdon marking on her belly, so it’s probably something to do with that.
