Due to the exceptionally hot weather going into next week, I am after some advice please?
My horses are out in the field with hedges on two sides but limited shade dependent on where the sun is. They have a field shelter although they won’t all go in it together due to the herd dynamics, there’s 4 of them.
Should I bring them in to their stables that are in a sheltered yard during the day. Although the stables are in shadows the yard gets incredibly hot as it is a brick courtyard.
What would you advise please?

Can you split the herd and bring half in so the other half can use the shelter together and maybe swap them over at some point? Hosing them off at points during the day - if you're around. Mine is on a track and the YO is going to open up gates so the yard becomes part of the track. There's more shade from the stables that they can use and a covered area that's shaded and they've used before. I don't think she'll bring them in as the stables are wood. She's going to hose them off and we're hoping for the best. They have natural shade on the track but all - 3 of them - try to crowd into a fairly small run through that's close to the yard.

Thank you. Splitting them up is a good idea as then they can all get a bit of everything.

Hope they're all ok. Just looked at the weather forecasts and the Met office has it slightly cooler for us than the BBC. Hope they're right. Sunday doesn't look too bad. Such a shame that with horses all through winter we look forward to summer and now it just brings its own problems.
