I think I have pretty much decided but will ask your opinions to make sure I'm doing the right thing!
Yard 1 (my current yard)
£38 per week DIY livery (1 horse) + I pay about £80 a month on bedding, hay and feed!
For that I get -
Stable
Shared field with 10 other horses, very little grass but post and rail fencing.
Horses are out in the day and in at night
3 big jumping arenas
1 DR school
My own personal storage
Wash down boxes
Ok hacking
If I chose to stay here I could only keep my one horse so have put the price just for one the other prices are for two.
Yard 2
£24 a week for two + prob paying about £40 a month on average on hay and feed.
Total DIY
Field to myself but I have to do all maintenance
Wire fencing (but I have electic that I could put round the inside)
Shelter.
Good grazing
Very good hacking
That is literally all you get
Yard 3
£50 a week for two horses on DIY grass livery + about £30 per month on hay and feed
for that I get -
My own field
Good grass, shelter in the form of trees and overhang on storage
Storage at bottom of the field for hay, wheelbarrow, feed etc
Space in comunal tackroom for tack boots etc
Use of school
Use of jumping paddock in summer
Use of pens, so when riding one I can leave the other in the pen with hay.
But yard is a bit messy
Good hacking
Can also rent a stable if I need it for an extra £10 a week, so just in case.
Yard 4
For £40 a week for two for DIY livery
Stable
Shared field with 2 other horses
Horses HAVE to be in overnight in winter.
So what do you think, if I stayed at yard 1 I'd be just keeping my mare, but if I moved to any of the other I'd also be taking on a lightly ridden companion
Thanks guys
