Another WOW question...

I have a Wow dressage saddle and love it, I would quite like to use it for jumping as well.

My question is, how inconvenient is it REALLY to keep changing the flaps?

I know the Wow is designed with this in mind but it looks like a bit of a pain to me - I would probably have to swap back and forth a couple of times a week.

What have your experiences been?

I started off with a WOW dressage and a set of jumping flaps. When I was only jumoing once a week at most it was okay. I had changing the flaps down to 10 minutes.

But when I started to do more jumping and over bigger jumps (3ft+) I found it a complete pain to switch back and forth as the screw heads spread and I was constantly emailing my fitter for a replacement set. Also as I had a deep seat for dressage I found that the cantle would slap me on the a$$ over the bigger jumps.

I have now bought another set of panels and a shallow seat (from my fitter, 2nd hand for £500 including fitting etc) and have a WOW for jumping and a WOW for dressage.

I try not the think about the expense.

Thanks, I suspected it wouldn't be as straight forward as the saddler suggested.

Not really sure what I should do now

I've got jumping flaps & dr flaps. I timed myself the other week & it took me 11 mins to change them at my usual speed i.e. not rushing.

They are a bit like studs - there's always one bu**er that doesn't want to go in! The trick is to get the angle right & not force it...& don't try to do them in a hurry cos it just doesn't work!!

I can change mine easily in under 10 mins..... but I LOVE the jumping flaps so much I hardly ever use the dressage ones now.
The key to it is knowing the angle of the hole

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's bum got in the way when jumping!

Like Marie I invested in a shallow seat and XC flap - I was just too lazy to change the flaps over...

I can change the flaps in about 5 mins and I only got my new flaps a few weeks ago. It is easy after a little practice, though the first few times were hard as the new leather hadn't streched. I only change mine about once a week though - maybe if I was changing more often it would be a bit of a chore.

Easy peasy to change, but becomes a pain in the arse - after a year of changing mine I am looking to invest in another seat and panels so I can have 2 complete units.

i have got it down to five minutes on a good day....and its fine although i am looking at changing to two saddles

Thanks everyone for your advice! Looks like I will get some jumping flaps but start saving for the rest!!
