This is driving me mad thinking about this and would really appreciate second/third/fourth opinions!
Current yard I'm on is a diy yard, very basic, rubbish arena that cannot be used for 4\5 months of the year, not very well maintained fields, rubbish hacking and the general bitchyness of a fairly large yard. The good points are that my mare is settled there, I get on well with most people there, mare can be out 24-7 and there is a cafe on site!! However, there is a possibility that the yard owner will be getting rid of half the stables within next few years so I may have to move anyway!
The yard I'm thinking of moving to is about an extra 5-10 minutes drive depending on traffic, £11 extra a week. The good points; larger stables, riding paddocks, miles and miles of off road hacking, yard manager is someone I've known for years and is also an instructor and she offers assisted diy should I require it. There would be a maximum of 8 horses and they have individual turnout separated by electric fencing which is very well maintained. No arena yet but space and plans to have one when weather improves.
My biggest issue is that my mare is very bonded with another mare on current yard and she has been in the same place for years. I can't help feeling a bit mean moving her!
Really don't know what to do.
