Would you move to a yard where all the facilities are better (hacking/school/stables all better then current yard) BUT the fields are pretty much dandelion infested (horses all looked v well on it but I honestly couldn't see much in the way of grass opposed to dandelions) and first impression of YO/staff was a bit 'off'.

Have heard a couple of rumours (emphasis on rumours) re them being a bit firm/rough with horses and just overall didn't feel like the friendliest yard.

All other facilities are big improvement on current yard though. Horses would be on DIY but I would need occasional services. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid as I don't really 'do' yard moves so v anxious about making the wrong decision.

I'm not sure how reliable my gut is at the moment as I'm so paranoid about the whole thing 😂😂😂

Thank you

i moved to a yard with much worse facilities but much better yard management - a real horsewoman on my current yard. My horses (and me) are so much happier. My littlest one used to be a bit nippy and grumpy - all that changed and he was so quickly so much happier.

I'm on DIY so no one but me handles my horses, so if the facilities where better I'd move there.

If you're happy where you are, and your horse is well and happy too, I personally wouldn't risk jeopardising that happiness for the yard you described.

I'd investigate further first - find out if the rumours are true. Then again there's no smoke without fire ...

I moved from unfriendly but amazing facilities to the friendliest, most helpful yard I've ever been on but not particularly great facilities - have never, ever been happier

Thanks guys.

No major issues where I am, just little annoying things and the set up means bringing horses in to ride in summer and getting out to do good canter work for my eventer is quite time consuming (I'm about to start a new job with a decent commute) and this new yard sort of popped up so I thought I would have a look.

I think I'm going to stay put, current yard is so friendly and I completely trust the person who offers services. I don't think there's much point in moving unless it's 100% right and I can't help but feel the fact the grazing is so full of dandelions suggests field maintence isn't great (it's not great where I am in that sense BUT we're allowed to get people in ourselves and the livery is so cheap the costs with that don't really matter).

My fields are not great at all. The grass just hasn't grown this year but the facilities are a million times better than my last yard, and the YO is on site (it's a private yard basically in her garden). She teaches and has evented and is amazing with my horse...so kind of don't care about the grass.

One of the things I thought about was whether I would be happy for the YO to look after my horse. All the horses there (inc hers - she has 2) are so well cared for and she is so happy to help out so I was fine to leave my mare with her. No amount of decent facilities could make me consider staying at a yard where my lady was handled roughly
