Anti Histimines and Fly Bites

Hi, Following vet's advice looking at giving either Piriton or Citirizine (supposedly non drowsy version of piriton) to my girl who has reacted badly to loads of horse fly bites. My question is has anyone had any adverse reactions to either of these and how long did you use them for. I know you need a high dosage so where is the best place to get them.

My pony has had up to 30 with no apparent side effects, certainly no drowsiness! At his worse he can be on the for a few months at a time, at about 20 a day (he has lots of allergies). They do help but I think it's a case of it depends on the horse.

I get mine, 500 piriton from hyperdrug. With the postage it's about £11. Bargain considering I ran out and needed some for him yesterday went to the chemist and got 60 for £5.50!!
