Hi
My 13 yo warmblood gelding has just been diagnosed with curb. Fortunately the tendon is intact but there is swelling in the form of fluid in the tendon sheath around the superficial digital flexor tendon. He is sound, just a little stiff in the affected hind. The vet has prescribed straight-line hacking on level ground for 2 months and expects a complete recovery.
My question: is there anything I can do pro-actively to help reduce the swelling? An topical anti-inflammatory gel / spray for example that will help reduce the swelling and perhaps even hasten his recovery? There is no heat so I'm guessing that a cooling gel will be of no benefit?
Apologies if I'm asking dumb questions - he's my first horse and this is the first time he's required any veterinary attention!
Thanks in advance for your help.
