Can anyone tell how these are attached to the stable door please? I've got anti-bite strips along top of doors so I'm hoping you can fix an anti-weave grill onto the door without needing to drill through it i.e. top surface of door? I can't tell from the pictures where the fittings go but I think they are brackets that will fit along the flat vertical surface of the door? :o

The grill has two long bits of metal that go into brackets fastened on the inside of the door.
My stable Doors are metal along the top so your door will be fine

I thought that would be the case but thanks very much for that RubysGold :) Will order grilles from local tack shop now I know I can fit them without any problem!

Most of the grills come with this attachment you screw into the door and the grill slots in

you can improvise with circular things like this

as ILCP. I have my sockets on the outside of the doors though, my horses are daft and would scrape themselves if they were on the insides.

Thanks v much millipops, I'd already thought I'd try to stick them on the outside if possible, and to ILCP for the brilliant photos. It's like having my very own Dorling Kindersley "Book of the Stable" :p My pony doesn't weave but she has occasionally tried to leave the stable by climbing over the closed bottom door so I thought an anti-weave grill might help avoid that nightmare scenario :(

that's why I have them.. my 2 are embarrassingly pair bonded so this is my safety-first solution.i have an infill which I drop in when leaving one by itself.

Saves my blood pressure, saves them getting in a tangle. I have basically given up "actively" training them about this - they are both slightly mentally scarred from experiences earlier in their lives and after 3 years they are showing no signs of improvement!

Glad I'm not the only one with a 'climbing horse'!! She's tried out her mountaineering skills a few times but, fortunately, we've always caught her in the act. Her other, very occasional foible is rearing in the stable so I've made sure that there's plenty of head height in her new stable. I'm making her sound like a really difficult pony and she's not at all but they all have their little peculiarities don't they? :o I just hope the rescue horse doesn't come with too much baggage. I've been assured she's fine but one never knows how a different environment will affect even the calmest pony ...

How embarrassing, I've just realised that I've spelt "grille" as "grill" throughout this post. Oops! Has anyone else gone to the stable to find their horse making toast?!!!

I haven't got a photo but when I put mine on (I had one that you could take on and off, not sure if they are all like that, I had to fix the brackets onto the door.

We had anti bite strips which covered down the inside of the door below the height of the top holes in the bracket, so I had to drill through metal.

My dad put bolts right through the door on ours to hold the brackets otherwise it would not be sturdy enough. My horse has been seen to weave but also threatens to jump out!

I've got anti weave grilles permanently set up on my stables too. The drama diva Cushings mare was seen sizing up if she could jump out once when on box rest, plus they're invaluable when the hunt are here and it all kicks off.

I have full metal protection on my doors, it's easy enough to drill through it to attach the fixings as ILP shows.
