We have a lovely 7 year old coloured arab cross mare which we bought for showing and broke in February this year. She was very easy to back and was soon hacking out with our other horse.

We've had some schooling problems and she took a little while to get her confidence in canter and still has a bit of an issue with cantering on correct right leg lead.

We've so far competed in 8 shows having entered ridden coloured and PBA classes. Up to a couple of weeks ago, she did quite well and was coming home with 1sts & 2nds and even won a Championship out of 18 which we were really chuffed with. She has some problems with standing quietly in ring and, for that reason, hasn't done so well in hand to date.

When we first started taking her out, we took our other mare, Belle, with us. However, they would continually shout at each other and Missy got wound up if she couldn't see Belle. We stopped taking them together after we took them both to a show and Missy went over backwards with my daughter in her first show in a pelham.

The following show on her own (back in the snaffle) Missy went brilliantly and won the championship. Since then, its been all down hill. After winning a PBA class and coming 2nd in coloured in her next show, she ran out of energy in the Championship after a long wait and started anticipating canter in the go round and in her show.

We started building her up with Bailey's Outline and exercised her more, but the same happened again at our last 2 shows. She is fine when she's warming up but, as soon as she gets in the ring, she's gently rocking up and down anticipating canter and all the smoothne. She was definitely in season for these shows, but I don't think this is the only issue that's affecting her performance.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
