Hi everyone new to site
I have never hunted and would love to try it however i dnt know anyone who does so would be doing it completely on my own.

I have no idea where to start really, im in durham and now theres 2 hunts close to me but do i need to write to join them or can i turn up for one of their meets and really have no idea what to do or expect, im reading up as much as i can because i think myself and my mare would love it...i guess its just a bit daunting going on your own and not knowing enough about it

Any help much appreciated
thanks

Best thing is to ring their secretary (numbers usually found on the website, or contact the MFHA for it). The secretary will be able to tell you good days for a first-timer and how much it is etc.

Don't worry about not knowing anybody, most hunting folk will talk to you and you'll find you've got a whole bunch of new friends by the end of the day!

Who are your local packs?

not so much that, as that some days are faster or have more jumping than others.

From what I understand (and this only what I've heard) the SD is more like a hunt club, so a bit more steady away.

Best to speak to the secretaries, they're usually really helpful.

I used to work for the Braes as a groom, they are really friendly. The different meets cater for different tastes, one day maybe mostly fields and lots of jumps and another will be steady away in forestry with little jumping ( good for young horses or newbies ). Loved the forestry days. Good luck.
