Hello all,
I hope I am posting this in the correct part of the forum, apologies if I am not. On Sunday evening, I was lunging my horse in the arena and I noticed he seemed quite gassy,then after a quick lunge I sat up on him to ride him and I noticed he was making a strange noise, after he did it the second time I took him back to the stable. The only way I can explain the noise I heard was it sounded like a windsuck. While untacking him in the stable, he made a different noise, again I can only describe this noise like a burp or like a dinosaur sound(!). I then noticed his gut was very noisy and he was still passing a lot of gas. Then came the noise again. So I proceeded to ring my vet who said if he was still like that in half an hour he would send someone out. He had no interest in his hay and he seemed quite uncomfortable but there was no kicking the belly or anything to that extend. After the half an hour had passed and his stomach was still sounding like a bubbling pot, I called the vet again and walked him to try alleviate it. the vet who came was not my usual vet and he said he was very gassy and had a mild colic and gave him a shot of Buscopan. The next morning he had passed 2 poos and his stomach had settled.
He was ridden lightly yesterday and was his usual enthusiastic self. Today when I was walking him in from the field low and behold I heard the windsucky noise again. I proceeded to ride him and he continued with the noise throughout being ridden. My yard manager was present when I began to ride him and I told him my concerns and he said he didn't think he was under any duress and he was ok to ride. He was in no way in bad form and was happy in his work.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Would I be right in thinking that maybe he has ulcers? Obviously if it continues I will get the vet out again but I just wondered had anyone elses horse ever started doing this?

I am hoping whatever it is will have passed by tomorrow :O and I can put it down to my overactive imagination
