Well despite Hovis tanking off on my friend the other day I decided to be brave last night and have my first jumping lesson for 7 weeks (since the big bugger dropped me at a little comp).
He was an absolute angel, didn't get strong, his ears were pricked the entire time and he never rushed. BUT I can't seem to ride the second fence of two straight! I used to jump both wonky so it is better but whilst I can now keep him perfectly straight over the first one if the second is a related distance I can't get over it without drifting to the right.
Any suggestions?
We were only jumping about 50cm so we were nice and controlled over it but every time we ended up right of the centre.
Help?

I haven't jumped for years but have you tried putting a pole on the wing angled towards the centre of the fence so it keeps you straight? Hope I have explained it right!!

What about a double of crosses with the X quite high (does that make sense?) so you have someting to aim for and ride to the middle.

Or 2 poles from ground to the centre of the jump pole like so / \ again to focus you and horse to the centre

(one of my problems too)

find a point beyond the fence that is slap bang in the middle of it and focus on that, if you ride to that point you should approach straight
