I have an 11 year labrador. A few weeks ago noticed he was limping while out walking. I took him straight home and rested him for a week and he got worse. Off he went to the vets and have extensive blood tests and xrays. These all came back clear and the vet prescribed loxicom and advised more rest. This was about 3-4 weeks ago. He seemed to be almost fine but the last few days started to limp again and this morning he wont weight bare at all.
Obviously I'll be ringing the vet again and taking him up tonight i just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences? And any ideas how to keep him comfortable as he is very restless
Thanks

Is he still on the loxi?
I expect they'll add some further pain relief in to help him through whatever caused this actue phase :) Until then keep him as rested as possible whilst still encouraging gentle movement. If he really is still in pain is there anyone else who could run him up to the vets to get further pain relief?

Elbow dysplasia is fairly common in labs. Were the parents scored? If it is suspected, I'd want a referral to an orthopaedic specialist, not the usual vet.

Yea he parents were both scored. He came from a highly recommended breeder. Hopefully they will find something on his ct scan but i will ask about that too when i spesk to the vet today

It could just be arthritis in his elbows, our lab bitch is 9 and we just have to be a bit careful with her, not too much on hard ground, no jumping and she has yu move. We have some canidryl for when it gets a bit much, but she rarely takes it. I would have thought though that if it was just arthritis it would have improved with rest and metacam. I hope he is soon on the mend.
