i'm hoping there will be some Arab fanatics on tonight... :)

right, a friend of mine is in the process of buying a house, and it's a case of 'buy a house, get some Arabs thrown in'... as the owner is unable to take them with her.

my friend is already moving a yard of horses, and doesn't really need any more... but neither of us have a clue about Arabs (to be fair, i don't have a clue about anything... :o )

The gelding has found a lovely loan home, and there was a filly, which i think has also found a home now.

Now, there are two broodmares left (although have both been ridden), and i guess with broodmares breeding is important... Can anyone tell me about their breeding. Is it good? Are they Egyptian or Crabbett? Um, and does anyone have ideas about what to do with them? Do people loan broodmares?

Chestnut mare "Kerry" - real name Ha Ayeeshah by How and Forever out of HT Lamia 10 years old

Grey Mare - Nazikaa 14 years old By Hejaz out of Thoraya.

Anyone know? Do the names mean anything to anyone? Thank you muchly! :)

Agree with Gingerarab, Arabian Lines is your best bet for a wealth of pedigree knowledge. Nazikaa, the grey mare, is very well bred indeed with a lot of Spanish bloodlines. You will get the full pedigrees of her sire and dam on

The chestnut mare's dam, HT Lamia, would have been bred by the Woodwards at High Tor Stud, near Blackpool. There are no details on allbreedpedigree for her sire or dam.

Why, when I buy a house do I just get a shaggy black carpet of a hound thrown in (we love him really) and not arabians :(

The first name doesn't come up with much at all on ABP, but that only says that no-one has bothered to enter her details.

Nazikaa has some well known names in there, always presuming I have the correct names that is. I'd grab her if someone offered her to me;)

Dam: Thoraya - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/thoraya3

Sire line is Egyptian (Aswan) and straight Russian (Monogramma was an exceptional Tersk bred mare -I am a huge fan of Tersk horses- dam of Monogram amongst others),

Dam line is Crabbet, some nice names in there too.

Sire: Hejaz - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/hejaz

Sire line is Egyptian (Maleik el Kheil) very nicely bred by the Maxwells, record 6 times champion sire in the UK,

Dam line I am not familiar with but I think Spanish

I think people may take mares on breeding loan, especially the grey, at 14 she isn't old. It depends entirely on the horse herself and her history, the nicest names in the world mean nothing if a horse is a three legged witch!
More likely to buy if they were specifically interested in those particular lines.

The mare with the crabbet lines will do well as crabbet is a sought after line. I am sure she can be leased as a broodmare.

My previous horse came from Aswan lines.

Agree to look on arabian lines, they are the real arab boffs!

In my experience there is a big demand for breeding loan in the Arab world, especially if there are good lines in there.

I have also found some people seem to be willing to take on a 3 legged witch if it has the lines they are looking for :p

I'm sure she isn't though. Also, i'm very jealous of the 'arabs thrown in' deal!

i'm not an arab boff (in case that hadn't already come across in my posting... :p ) but i don't *think* they're 3 legged witches. well, i can see they're not 3 legged. and i haven't seen any pointy hats or broomsticks.... hang on, will see if i have a photo...

photo, sorry not very good as horrible day, and was on phone:

see, there ARE arab boffs on here... :D

i will point my friend in the direction of arabian lines... (i looked, was too scared to enter...)... :)

enfys - if you do want her... i can ask for you? :)

I would jump at the chance for her, in fact I'd be making space for her, I like her breeding very much indeed, (and, please, I wasn't insinuating that she was, in anyway, nasty) but very sadly I don't live in the UK :(

ps. Arabian lines is OK really, if your friend was wanting to sell, or lease/loan then that would be an excellent place to test the waters.

Lovely picture, and no, neither are three legged witches...why do I live so far away? :(

The Arabian Lines people are lovely. Don't be worried about signing up to the forum. They were very nice when I used to have an Arab.

Good luck and I am sure someone will be pleased to have them on loan/ lease.
