A long shot since this is going back a few years - about 1974, actually! I'm looking for a lady who I believe lived in Iver who had a grey Arab stallion named Prince Amru. She might have lived at the Moat House. If anyone can recall her name or has any pictures of the horse I'd be most grateful, he was the sire of a foal I bred.

Thanks, Archangel. I did look at Allbreeds but it's not the greatest picture. The foal's Dam (TB) came from Iver too. It was such a long time ago & I lost so many photos & notes in the many house moves since.

My first Arab mare was a grand daughter of Prince Amru. The only Arab stud near Iver I can think of was Les Maryon, his daughter is still in the Arab world but moved to Wales. There are a few Arab pages on FB and i'm sure someone would remember.

Hi Mrs Moo. I know this is a few years down the line but I knew Joan McLaren from the Moat House in Iver and bought 2 of her mares who had foals with Prince Amru. Fair Extra who was a TB and Barnya who was an Arab. I spent alot of time there. They also had a grey Arab mare called Felice. This is a very old Pic of Prince Amru.

Lovely picture of Prince Amru, my mare also had Barnya in her pedigree.

I can tell you a bit of history. Barnya arrived at the stud in foal to Autumn Miracle stable name Totty, she looked just like her dad, nothing of Barnya in her at all. Barnya rejected her and she was brought up in the house in her very early days. She was later brought by a lady called Julia but came back to be put in foal by their stallion Prince Amru. This foal arrived looking just like Barnya but had a bay spot in the blaze. I believe she may have turned grey afterwards, she would have been your mares mum. Barnya also went on to have a couple of foals by Prince Amru, both turned out grey although she was a very bright bay. Photo of Barnya attached.

Aw that's lovely to see. I bought Shida from the lady who bought her from her breeder. The breeder was a Mrs J Phillips so guess she was Julia. I did have a video of her as a foal with her dam who i'm pretty sure was grey. Shida was born bay too but obviously greyed out. She was my horse of a lifetime and I was devastated when I lost her at 15 to Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Aww how very sad to lose your girl so young. I was lucky to have Barnya until she was 30 and she never had a days illness in the whole time I had her, very strong mare. Yes Julia Phillips, lived Hertforshire way if I remember rightly.

Would love to see any more pictures if you have any :)
I only have more of Barnya and one very old photo when Prince Amru had turned pure white, older than the photo that I have already posted. I will have to try and dig it out. I believe an Arab bought him and he was kept at some stables in Rotten Row near Hyde Park. It was a shame to lose touch with him after he was sold.

Yes Hemel Hempstead, I never met her or had any contact although i'd have loved to let her know how loved Shida was.

What a lovely kind head she has, yes dig them out can't see too many pics of lovely Arabs and I love to see horses related to mine. I have Shida's half sister now but on her sire's side and she is 21 this year. Time goes too fast!

She was a very kind mare, loved me as much as I loved her. She was also rejected at birth and brought up by 2 ladies I believe. After she Had Autumn Miracle she miscarried twin colts, then had a filly, and then she had a colt. She didn't particularly like being a brood mare. I got her when she was 8 after she didn't get in foal and the stud was breaking up. I did nothing fancy with her, she was my hacking horse who was very spoilt. Ah how lovely that you have Shida's half sister now, must make you still feel close to her.
