Any barefoot experts on here?

She may have a copper/zinc/magnesium deficient diet? She may get too much sugar in her diet from grass? Yes I know this sounds nuts but it's absolutely true :) The foot can only grow stronger from the inside out.....

And...it takes time to transition from shod to unshod, it's not peculiar to your horse that's she's very footy when shoes are first removed, im sure, had I consulted my vet when I first removed shoes from my old boy and he was very sore, he would have advised them to be put back on, possibly saying he had thin soles?? I didn't, as I was committed and expected there to be a transition period. He improved gradually and I don't believe he had or has any more thin soles than any other horse. Probably yours doesn't either.
I'm not a 'barefoot' fanatic either, I use the term unshod rather than barefoot and I have 2 unshod and one shod on fronts.

Lucky you to get him cheap because of it and then cure it :D I paid a pound for mine, but then he did have navicular as well and barefoot cured that too. He was jumping over a metre yesterday :D

I was lucky, although I had no idea I would cure it when I bought him! I've had a sweetitch horse before and managed her well with rugs and potions so thought this chap would be the same.... if only I'd known then what I know now I could have cured her too; poor mare was driven mad at times.

Very interesting hearing from you all. Thanks. I do feed a barefoot diet with added magnesium as she can be a little bit highly strung being an arab. She has fantastic feet and they do keep good shape generally and I really have learnt my lesson in leaving the trimming too long. She's not stabled for long but I made the mistake of not riding much this winter so she wasn't able to self trim on the roads. I think I will go back to my original trimmer next time (not that I wasn't entirely happy with the farrier, he was great) around and just be more organised in setting up the appointment. He doesn't charge the earth, infact he's cheaper than the farrier. Thanks again everyone.
