Any consensus on the Equisafety Polite range yet?

I'm still wearing mine and so is my friend. Saw a cyclist the other day in a POLITE tabard so it's not just horse riders.
 
I don't know, but V-bandz who did a similar (copy :p) range are swapping their items or sewing silver reflective tape over the checkered tape for free.

NEWS - Chequered Range UPDATE

We have received updated guidelines nationally from the Police on the styling of the high viz products which Police Forces use. As a result of these clarifications we have decided to withdraw the entire chequered range from sale as we do not want to put our customers in a potential conflict situation with their local Police Force. We understand the Police will be making these guidelines public to riders via press releases in equine magazines. We are sorry if this causes you inconvenience and will do our best to help.

For our customers who have bought these kind of products from us - Please do follow the link below for more information and ways that we can help you. What we do not want is for you to go out not wearing anything high vis but we want you to understand and manage the guidelines. - some of our products are in the "high risk" category.

I've got some of the stuff I've never ever worn, and probably won't, not now.

Don't hold your breath for a refund though........ if you do a search on here the company concerned that makes the stuff ain't exactly user friendly, apparently!

But looking at some of the feedback on the stuff, apparently the wording and patterning does wash off pretty quickly, which has been a criticism, so armed with this knowledge will just bung it in the washing machine!! Simples???

I am pretty annoyed that the company concerned did not do their research properly on this; and have intimated that the range is approved by the police, when this is obviously not the case. I'd never, ever buy any of their stuff again because of the deceit involved here.
 
I'd heard about their reputation MiJods so I don't hold out much hope but I'm similarly annoyed that I bought a product advertised as being police approved (I note that a complaint about this was upheld by the ASA and they had to remove the claim from marketing material) which has now met with significant disapproval from the police, bordering on it being rendered illegal. :mad:

I'm looking on the website now and I can't see the Polite range for sale currently, am I going mad or have they taken it down?

Edit: I was going mad, it's still there, they've just changed the website and it's harder to find compared to the standard equestrian range.
 
I'm still wearing mine - several police cars have driven past me and I've not been arrested, cautioned or stopped yet:D

Personally I think it's all a bit of a storm in a teacup - surely the Police have better things to do than arrest horse riders for impersonating mounted police? Seeing as most of the mounted police force have been lost in the cuts e.g. Notts then the police probably see it as a good thing having a 'mounted section' patrolling the countryside?

I think they're great - most drivers slow down and I've even passed pedestrians who've mentioned that it's not often they see mounted police in these parts :D:D
