Bob is a very high withered TB, and I noticed today that the waffle cooler rug I have bought him has started to rub his wither very slightly

I use it as an under-rug some nights when it is not quite warm enough for just his H/W Amigo (which to my mind is actually a M/W but that is another matter...

Can anyone recommend a cooler type rug which doesnt slip back, and rub, when used as an under rug? Or do they all do it

Thanks

I can tell you one that started rubbing Tara when I was using it as an under rug - her weatherbeeta polar fleece.

Not much use to you but means you might be able to discount it lol xx

I have a MT coolex now but she hasn't worn it overnight yet..

I also use a weatherbeeta Jasper extra lite combo as an occasional underrug which I love:

Ah ha, good idea April

Bob has got both his Amigos on tonight (supposedly H/W and M/W, actually M/W and L/W IMHO

i have a thermatex, shires fleece and amigo fleece and all slip back, so hardly use them, use the thermatex after work and for travelling etc, but never overnight
as an under rug i use the LW amigo stable rug, mine has worked very hard this winter, but still looking good, and not a rub on my ned

(agree with you re amigo heaviness, my friend has the HW, not my idea of a HW!!)

I don't like using coolers underneath, I feel most of them slip back. I just layer my stable rugs according to the weather.

I too have a high withered TB. I dont think there are rugs on the market which are made of stretchable fabric ie coolers, fleeces etc which wont rub. They are just prone to slipping back. If you need to use one then I guess you will need to use a bib.
I dont use them anymore overnight. I use a thin stable rug instead which works much better.

I am not a fan of cooler type rugs as under-rugs. I would 2nda Weatherbeeta Jasper lite or extra lite. Probably not the combo one though.

My fav coolers are thermatex in the winter although i hardly ever use mine overnight as the bedding sticks. In the summer I have these, they are fab (& I am not really a masta rug fan!)

The premier equine buster cooler is fab, I have a high withered horse and its fit great as it sits higher up the neck, its also deeper then others and is abouth £25
