I'm based in East Sussex, and have 2 fab youngsters, and an 8yr old, which I have been looking for a sharer for. It seems that people want to buy there own horse for £10k plus, pay all the bills, and be shattered travelling everyday to the stables, rather than share or part-loan. I don't understand? I am around to muck out, t/o, be here for farrier etc as I have my 3 horses at home. I am happy for a sharer to come and go as they please, and have as much involvement as they wish, I'd wouldn't say no to a lay in!,able to go to clinics, shows, have trainer here (new menage just installed).

The response I have had is that people don't want to share/part-loan in case I decide to sell the horse in the future, and they have wasted their money. I understand, but surely the fact that I have moved 2hrs away to buy a house with land to keep my horse at, spent 20k on arena and had all 3 horses since yearlings, and do them everyday would demonstrate that I adore my horses and just want a little help and a small contribution towards horses. My 8yr old is ele/med, and the 2 youngsters are beautiful.

I don't want to sell or full loan as you hear such horrid stories, its just not an option for me personally. I do know of horses loaned to friends which are loved by all, but I have also had friends who have received their horses back in a real state.

If anyone knows of anyone let me know.

Thanks
Helen

I am surprised you are not finding anyone, sounds like an ideal situation!

Might be worth trying your local Uni, a lot of students are decent riders but had to give up horse ownership to study. Or try the BD forum. I assume you have advertised at local tack shops, livery yards, RCs, RSs, etc.

You could have just moved somewhere closer to me! :p
Perhaps advertising via BD/posting on the BD forum might help? (no idea, but thought I would try and make a reasonable suggestion!) Otherwise simply word of mouth?

I know I would love such an opportunity, however even once I can drive it's a bit of a distance! :( :p

I'd try BD forum/classifieds, or you could move just a weeny bit north to Yorkshire and I'd help you out ;)

This is EXACTLY what I am looking for at the moment, I seriously, seriously wish you were near me.

I honestly cannot understand why you arn't finding anyone?? It sounds brilliant! You will definitely find someone! keep trying.x

Your horses sound lovely - like others have suggested i would definitely advertise on the BD forum. Having loaned out my dressage horse in the past and it ending in tears (to a friend aswell) i am the same and would never loan her out again. As such she is in foal and come weaning around October time she will be bought back into work and i hope to find a sharer aswell - i will be advertising on BD and our local equine sites and in tack shops etc.

My boy is on full loan now with a very good friend but while I was pregnant I found him a sharer via the BD website a local judge who needed a ride at medium level to upgrade.

I miss having my horse to do every day but currently have 2 rides on the go and ride most days, no financial responsibilty for them, help with jobs one morning a week and thats it! Two fab very nice boys the chance to compete aswell. Sharing seems the way to go I can't understand why people aren't literally bitting your hands off, like the other have said BD forum and if you're on facebook your region might have a page, the northern region does might be worth posting on there good luck your horses sound lovely and if your were in Lincs I'd have added them to my growing list of rides.
