Its something ive always wanted to do but i dont know anybody that drives, how did you all get into it?

p.s i ment carriage driving, just realised that i didnt make that very clear.

Hi,

After a gap between horses i fancied learning something a bit different, so gave driving ago.

I was lucky as a very well thought of riding school (Worcester Riding School) in my area does carriage driving lessons... they were really great! and got to have a go with both the experienced driving ponies and towards the end had a hand in breaking a younger pony to harness.

Along with the actual driving I was taught to harness and 'hitch' up and basic care of the equipment.

I really enjoyed it and is well worth doing if you fancy experiencing a new horse area! I know that when the time comes for me to have kids myself their ponies must be multifunctional!!

They also do sidesaddle lessons so who knows what could happen next!! (poor old PJ, that is something we could actually try together!!)

I learnt through experience although I am not an experienced driver.

However you can book lessons.

I have a few "old horsemen" types round me so learnt to drive from them but their ways are the only ways kind of thing so I proberly dont drive properly. I dont really drive now but boyf has heavy horses so have a play with them sometimes.

Im currently between horses due to having young children, but we have been given a sec A (he's my sisters/ nephews but ive taken a liking to him) and i thought it would be a fab way to keep him exercised if we could get him driving and it would give me something to do whilst im not riding. but obviously ild like to learn myself before getting him broken to harness.
