Hi, I am thinking of obtaining an Exmoor pony as I love the breed and their versatility. I am however concerned as I know that the Exmoors are hardly and strong but I am worried that at 5ft 6 and weighing 9 stone this might be a problem riding wise? What are your experiences of the breed, would this be an issue - I dont want to look a wally!:)?

lol i just did the exact same thread and got all this :

I am in the process of buying one from a stud down the road. am choosing between a 2 yr filly and 1 yr colt.
I am 5ft 6 and 9 stone. I have heard they take easily 10-11 stone no problem and take up a lot of leg so u wont look silly :)
Plus exmoors are mostly ridden by adults as they dont have the easiest temperments for children and many adults ride them in showing and do well
Hope this helps! :)

Good choice, Exmoors are fabulous ponies for children and adults alike. At your height and weight you will be fine on a mature Exmoor. As well as being hardy and resilient, charming and just gorgeous, they are good doers, go barefoot and have great longevity. Get two.
