I've found a lump on Tia today. It's mammary, between nipples at the end of her rib cage. It seems solid but not painful and no obvious signs of a puncture wound. She is unneutered, smack between seasons and less than two years old.

She'll be off to the vets as soon as possible but I'm getting wound up worrying it's cancer :(
 
If she was my dog Annette I would be keeping positive because she is so young but would still get it checked out at the vets as you are doing. Sending you vibes that it is soon sorted and is just a minor problem.
 
As Dg says she is young for it to be mammary tumour, but I would get it checked. Even if it is something nasty you have found it early so should be easily removed. It is your choice of course but as she is mid way between seasons I would be booking her in for a spay too.

She's provisionaly booked in for January (they could only get her in the second week of Dec otherwise and we're away for Christmas) for a spay, unfortunately it is funds permitting as I'm having to buy a new car, if we don't manage it in Jan she'll 100% buy spayed after her next season.
 
Our terrior had something similar all her life. The vets kept an eye on it but as it never changed they didn't do anything about it. We got her at 3 and still had it when she passed at 16. Its potentially nothing but best to get it looked at.
 
I would say more likely to be a cyst or something similar than a cancerous growth. Could also easily be where a small thorn or something has got embedded under the skin. There are 100s of things it could be and the majority are not cancerous so don't get too worried about it (I know that's easier said tha done).

Our dog got a large lump on her jaw last year. We thought she must has a tooth problem or got something lodged in her jaw. The vets basically told us the chances were it was cancerous as what they drained from it didn't point towards infection.

However, when they x-rayed and had a closer look it turned out it WAS in fact an infection and she'd got a splinter (from a stick) in her jaw! So, despite the vets getting us very worried, our initial thoughts were right and some ABs sorted it all.

She's had another incident this year when limping and then developing a hard lump on her back leg. We did worry about what it could be as vets had dismissed our thoughts she had damaged her cruciate ligament so again, we were thinking something sinister. After several weeks the vets discovered that it was her cruciate that was damaged and they have operated and she's doing well!
