any experience of Guttural pouch empyema

Yes - me! Unilateral infection with chondroids post 'strangles'. Guarded to poor prognosis in elderly pony.

Took her to Leahurst for scoping and flushing to find she'd miraculously cleared it herself!

I wouldn't hang about getting it treated, though, as there are major blood vessels and nerves very close to that area and if the infection rots the guttural pouch lining and these vessels rupture...

I can't say for sure but we put our pony on some homeopathic stuff (hepar sulph and silicea) and maybe, just maybe, they played a part in her recovery/overcoming the infection.

What symptoms has yours got?
 
he's off to the vets tomorrow am for scoping!
his symptoms are.
* nasal discharge from one nostril
* coughing when ridden or lunged
*slight wheeze when ridden
* high temp
*depression
*had cleared slightly but has returned.

Hopefully will get a confirmed diagnosis and we can get him sorted ASAP ....first had the vet out 6 days ago
