My flatwork trainer swears by a lady who does acupressure on horses and has suggested that I have a session with my mare who has stopped a couple of times recently out of character. I have had saddle checked and thermal imaging and so far nothing wrong. Got the physio coming tomorrow but I was wondering if it was worth giving the acupressure a go. Has anyone got any experiences of it either on themeselves or on horses?

My trainer had a horse which she knew was not quite right. Had loads of investigations by the vet who first thought it was hocks, then foreleg lameness until they finally discovered that the horse had a big growth in its withers/shoulders which has now been removed. The acupressure lady had said all along that the pain was emanating from that area!

I haven't had acupressure, as such, but my vet does a combination of acupuncture & chiropractic, which of course involves pressure on different points. On his last visit, he explained the science behind it all to me, while we were waiting for the needles to do their stuff. It really did make sense, although I hesitate to try to reproduce it here, not being a scientist, I'm sure I would make enough mistakes in the explanation for sceptics to be able to say 'that's not true'. I have reflexology myself and that also ties into what he was saying. If I were you I'd give it a go. My mare is making a good recovery, after several sessions.
