Horse in question is an ex polo horse and as a result of blunt trauma to the cannon/fetlock area bone grew in an abnormal manner resulting in tendon injury. Vet gave it a really long winded name - unfortunately I cannot remember what it is called. It is unknown when the injury occured however it only began giving her trouble at the beginning of this year. No arthritis and joint is generally clean.

Vet has recommended pain relief, 24/7 turnout and regular light work on hard ground (xrays were done). Vet is unable to provide any idea on the rate of progression of symptons however has advised 2 years max.

I do speak with the vet regarding any changes but wondered if there is anything else that people have done that I could mention to the vet? Rate of progression that others have encountered etc?

I have been made fully aware that the damage cannot be rectified however anything that could help would be appreciated.

Hi - have you considered some kind of massage/physio/stretching type treatment to help with the rehab? I have heard of cases where soft tissue and tendon injuries gave been helped dramatically by thus. It helps to stimulate the gealing process, improve blood supply and drainage of inflammation and assist in the laying down of more 'normally' orientated collagen fibres in the tendon.
Dies the horse gave shoes on? In my perspective if it is barefoot, the foot and led will be functioning much better in terms of circulation, which is essential for the gealing process. Hope that helps!

Hello, thanks for your message. It is an old injury that she had before me so I think I'm a bit limited with assisting any healing. She does have physio though which seems to help. She is a tb with poor feet but i'm currently working on strengthening them.
