Was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good fly repellent. My mare absolutely hates her fly mask. I'm looking for something which gives quite a long protection as I can't catch her in the mornings (she only comes in in the evenings when everyone else is in), so I need it to work for 24 hours really. Need something that can go on her face etc, or even something that goes in her feed. Would rather buy something on recommendation really. I saw something on the web that goes in feed but it was from abroad, does it exist over here??

Phazer or Phaser not sure of the correct spelling.

It is fab and not a fly will go near him when he has this on. It is not cheap though.

Also there is Naff Deet but use this with caution as a lot of horses have had reactions to it and you certainly cannot use the spray on their face although they do a face gel.

I too second Phaser. I tried NAF but not to succesful. I borrowed someones Phaser, it smelt really potent but no fly came within 2 miles of me! Bought my own used it yesterday and hands smelt of it 3 hrs later even after shower, really strong.

I agree Leovet Phaser is fab, BUT it only lasts 7 hours, so if you are only going down in the evenings it won't work for you! Coopers is the only one i've found that actually lasts 24hours+ (you re-apply every 2 to 4 days).

I've just discovered one made by Stubben and it is utterly fabulous. It's not that pricey either and really does work, especially out on rides.

Its been such a hit that half of my yard have converted to it!

Deosect is fab, wouldn't use anything else since I discovered it.Seems quite expensive to buy, but you dilute it right down and the tin just goes on forever.
