Any good Burghley bargains?

The shopping was absolutely heaving today so good luck finding anything.

Didn't spot any bargains today, will have to try harder tomorrow!

Apart from downloading the H&H vouchers I've not come across anything else this afternoon :( hopefully there will be a lot of show offers though as I have rather a large shopping list!

I'm going on Sunday, so hope that there is still some stock left!!

In a word, no!
I went yesterday, with a view to buy (hopefully) polo shirts from the well known manufacturer beginning with J as I have done every year. However, the stand was displaying the 'show bargains' at the front as usual. They are not bargains. Somebody has torn the bottom off the tickets (where the printed price usually is) and has written 'was £59.99, now £29.99' giving the idea that you are saving £30. You are not! These polo tops have been sold for £29.99 on line, in the catalogue and in stores and have NEVER been £59.99!

I was livid! They got no sales from me or my daughter who has two children and buys their products a lot. I also notice that their costs have risen and the quality has dropped.

There was also another stand selling shirts - advertised as reduced to 59.99 from 79.99. They are available on line for 39.99!

Most of the saddlery stands have the same prices as on line - at least you have the advantage of looking at the goods.

A huge surprise was the new Fairfax girth as mentioned in H&H a good idea but HOW much! More than £200!. A back massager was available for nearly £300.

I am a good old NHS worker and no way can I afford that! I treated myself to a pair of Dubarry boots 7 years ago and they are still good, but nearly at the end of their life. They cost me £199. The same ones now are £299! My salary has not gone up that much!

I think I am maybe being a bit moaney as it was crap weather yesterday, took 3 & half hours to get there when it should take just over an hour (accident om A14), had to go to work today, and got a ripped tyre just before I got to work.

Oh dear, best of luck everyone!

Was disappointed on arrival on Thurs not to find the Holmestaed saddlery store, have held off buying rugs for new pony as I was hoping to kit him out there.
Popped into Thermatex stand just for a 'dream' shop and found a brand new Areborn MW TO in ponies size for £30 that was the only bargain I found.
The weather wasn't good and I we found it lacking in the usual atmosphere, have been regulars on a Thursday for 10 yrs, but now reconsidering going next year due to entrance, fuel and food costs, could run one of the horses at a BE event for the same sort of price......

No - I also missed some of the regular stands.

I've done less and less shopping in recent years.

That's something we have noticed over the last few years, we sit in the car and have a picnic before going home used to watch people struggling back to their cars under the weight of their shopping, dont see that now.

I missed out on a bargain Nuumed numnah for £15. Medium sized gp high whither but i seemed to think my saddle was a 17 1/2 and the chap there said it would be far too small, even though i was sure one of my others is a Medium. Went away feeling like a bad mother using the wrong sized numnah then i realized my saddle is actually a 17'' and by the time i got back it was gone!

I did get my Gatehouse skull though, which i'm really pleased with, and it turns out that my other hat is a size too big. Goes to show you should be measured every time you buy a new hat rather then buying the same size you had before...

I bought a brand new cliff barnsby saddle for £325 thought that was a pretty good bargain!

My other bargain was a pair of Harry hall jods for £15. I also bought the burghley hoody for £50 which was less of a bargain but oh well.

In all an expensive day!

Just to make you feel a bit better if you have a 17" saddle you would probably need a large anyway.

(I use a XL to fit my 17.5" saddle)
