Any hacks to stop my horse emptying his water bucket in the stable?

My horse has a large tub trug style bucket sat inside a tyre - he still insists on attempting to grab the bucket out of the tyre and cover his stable in water :(. Does anyone have any idea of what I can try to stop this? At the moment he's out 24/7 but had been in during the day when it's hot and a couple weeks ago on the hottest day he decided to poo in it so had no water all day :( - he's now emptied the bucket out a couple times recently... He also can't be fed out of a bucket as he picks the handles up and throws his food over himself or anyone around him. He never used to do this all the time but I now have to also put his feed on the floor in the stable or field - any idea to stop this also would be great as its so annoying and sometimes he wastes so much of his food!

I hang my flat sided water buckets again the stable walls. Have a special trolley which they fit snugly into too, from hose to stable.

I have a similar problem with my hay cube though and my horse pulls it all over his stable with his teeth despite the three bricks inside, so I feel your pain. 😆

I wouldn't use clips to hang buckets having seen a nasty accident with the clip having clipped on to the horse right through the nostril ☹️
Bucket holders / corner manger as mentioned probably your best bet

These are a good idea - what trolley do you use out of interest? I can't lift water buckets up high (not allowed to lift super heavy stuff since having my child!) so at the moment I fill a tub trug in a wheelbarrow and can just about manage to get it out the wheelbarrow and straight down into a tyre!
i do worry my horse may catch himself on them though as he does like to rub along the wall too!

Put it in a tyre (that grips it very hard to just pull out) in a back corner. I had a similar problem (pooping in the bucket) I have 1 spot in the whole of the stable that works. try different spots

I'll try and find a link to it.
I've added bungee cord ti side and top and a string to pull it by. It's one of those that coverts to a sack truck too but I never use it for that.

Here you go, easy to find on eBay.

Don't let the price put you off, its lasted me four years so far and still going strong.

Stubbs flat sided buckets from Ebay but I got mine from Townsfield Saddlery.

These are the clips I use so no danger of that. I use the same on my headcollar.

Or do what the Spanish do only allow drinking in the yard! Joking of course but that’s what some do. Can’t imagine how many have kidney damage in later life.

I've relocated the water to a back corner (horse is 13.2 so plenty of space) and that has stopped her tipping it, she has a corner stable so anywhere near the front is either too close to the door or her haynet, so that back corner seems to have fixed it.

Our Shetland did that, so we have the bucket inside a snug fitting tyre, and some large bricks in the bottom of the bucket to weight it down. Now he just fills it with hay instead 🙈
