Any haflinger owners on here?

Yes, I have a haffie mare called Tara. Love her to bits even when she has her bargy, stroppy moments! To ride she's so safe and dependable. She's beautiful too.

Yep, mine's 17 and well travelled-born in austria, exported to Spain, rescued from the meat man then I brought him to uk 5 years ago. Had him 12 years and love him to pieces

Crikey how did he almost end up with the meat man :-(. Im in france and even 20yo haffies are sold for quite a lot!!!

My haffie is 13yo, i got her last year :-). Shes lovely <3

What saddles does everyone use?

Ps any of you on fb haffie groups?

I know bless him! He's branded as well so don't know how he came to be there. He's such a dude too :)

In Austria the majority of 3 year olds that don't pass the inspection with a high mark are s sent to slaughter, especially the big studs that brand, which would be the most likely reason why he was there

Edit--- Actually think I misread - was he going for meat in Ebbs or Spain? :)

I had one on loan for a year or so. It was a nutjob. We did our best, and by the time it left us it could at least be caught and tacked up (a major improvement), and ridden safely 90% of the time... I broke it to drive, and it seemed fine, but gave up on it the day it bolted with a carriage and jumped a fence!

Honestly, if I hadn't been behind it, I wouldn't have believed that something that heavily built could do 40mph.

Born and branded in westfalia (think I said austria before which is wrong lol) then sent to spain for meat :-( and I agree he probably just didn't make the grade at 3-as lovely as he is, his conformation is not perfect, especially behind. But I love him anyway.

Does anyone follow The Fat Pony on FB? Cheeky haflinger owned by Januart Tewson from the gb haflinger society. He reminds me a lot of mine and her posts are very funny.
