my mums horse is very difficult to deal with. we have tryed many things now. we have always had the problem that she trys to work out how to get around the bit weather she leans on it or is head high and behind it. so at the moment we have her in a waterford gag so that she finds it hard to lean on but she decided that she could come behind the bit, we tryed her in a running martingail which didn't work, so we have put her in the mark tod elastic training aid and that has worked on the flat but as you are not aloud to jump in it she has now decided that she can get behind the bit and then stop at the jump. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we could try. she has had a new saddle fitted to her and she goes well in the pessoa she has no problems with her teeth but does have a small mouth with a large tounge with not alot of room. we are constantly doing grid work with her to improve as she is a forward thinking horse. We have tryed her in many bits but in the snaffle and weaker bits but she then gets to strong in flatwork and incredibly strong in jumping; if we try her in a stronger bit like a waterford gag and former and a peewee she starts to go backwards and prance on the spot.

My horse developed a lean too and we got a McTimoney physio out to him. It turned out his right hip (side he was leaning on) was way lower than his left and his right hind leg far more muscly than his left. Basically he had had either a fall or injury in the past, had developed a way of going that got round it and developed muscles accordingly, so that once the original injury etc had cleared up he remained in the wrong outline etc. Which eventually led to the lean. The physio worked on him for 2 hours working out all his knots etc and he has been going amazingly since.

she has had a lot of problems in the past but has had extensive physio work and has a clean bill of health. She carried herself incorrectly for a lot of years which she may not mentally get over, but there is no reason physical reason for her not to be able to carry herself. It does just seem she is constantly trying to avoid the bit whichever way she can.
