Out hunting good 4hrs yesterday- lost both front shoes! Think I must have rode her on without them for quite a while before realising. Was on grass all day, then when hacking back to trailer only noticed her come up lame along the road. Assumed she had just swelled up after strenuous work etc. so ran both front legs under cold water when I got home then bandaged over night. Front legs were both quite hot from knee downwards, hinds fine. This morning she was lame in walk out of the stable, but slightly less heat in legs, slight swelling. Less lame than when we got back last night, so figured it was a pulled muscle somewhere, so turned her out to stretch it out.
Then she came in tonight hopping lame, difficulty walking, not very hot legs but obviously in pain. She's in on bute on a deep bed of shavings now.
Any recommendations? Vet out? I'm getting the farrier soon as poss. to get the shoes back on, I guess that could be part of the problem. Ahh! Poor pony!
