My partner has a 3 bedroom mobile home which is supplied with his job as groundsman. It runs on electric and calor propane gas. We had a gas leak previously and the service engineer came out and found the valves had become loose under the mobile and the gas was rising through the floor under the bed in the bedroom. On Saturday my partner was working but I was in and out of the mobile all morning. I started to feel light headed and headachey and thought it was because I'd had no breakfast, so ate some cereal. However I still felt poorly and started to feel sick. When I went back into the mobile after cleaning out the hens I could smell a strong smell of gas so got the dog outside and rang my partner and told him. He came and switched the gas off and said it was caused (according to the service engineer by the gas running low in the cannister).
All day saturday and sunday I felt poorly, weak, sick and headachey despite taking numerious paracetamol tablets. I felt really funny again this morning, and now I have just gone to Morrisons in my lunch break and almost passed out from feeling weak and giddy.
Our carbon monoxide alarm that we bought after the first incident never went off, I have googled and found out this was because our gas is natural gas which is LPG and therefore different.
Partner says LPG/butane/propane does not rise and has nothing smell wise to indicate it is leaking, but I have read that it has an odour added to make it smell to alert people. Does anyone know how long the effects of gas last in the body for? I know the gas enters your bloodstream and causes hypoxia but I am not sure how long it lasts. Should I take myself off to A&E? I am sure it is the gas and not a virus/flu but the symptoms are very simliar. I am a bit worried as feeling very weak and lousy still but don't want to make an idiot of myself in A&E either!!
