Any idea how long to heal?

one of the horses at the yard has a hole from the top of her mouth (above her two front teeth) which runs almost (but not quite) into her nostril.
she has been on bute for the last week as even having a headcollar on caused her pain, and she had her last dose today and we managed to get a look inside at the "hole".
the hole is large enough to get your little finger into (not that anyone tried may i add!!!) and her front lower teeth are all broken unevenly.
the vet did advise a dentist asap, which is now in hand and due in the next few days, as she cant even graze properly, but does anyone have any idea how long this type of thing would take to heal?
the girl is too heavy for the horse and her parents are trying to sell it, but obviously she cant be sold with a whopping big hole in her mouth!
so anyone got a clue? suggestions? experiance with this type of injury?
 
not sure to be honest.
the mare went to liphook about 8 weeks ago with a back injury (her owner was too heavy, to young, to irrisponsible, i could go on).
she was there for 3 weeks before returning for a week, and then going to the chiropractors , and was there a week.
obviously the chiro was forceful in her owner should NOT ride her and she has stagnated in the field ever since (they are now trying to sell her)
i spoke to the parents of the girl and they agreed one of our other girls who is lightweight could exercise her and it was when we tried to put on the bridle she went up on her back legs.
when she eventually let us look in her mouth it was clear why!!!
if i look at it logically all i can think is it was either something in her hay that pierced the gum or something in the field she tried to eat? i really cant see any other alternative!
either way the damage is done and i would love to see her sold to someone who will love her as she deserves!
i dont think she should winter another year in a field. she is an arab/tb mix and after seeing her poor condition earlier this year i really think she needs to come in at night.
with all this in mind i really could do with knowing how long this could take to heal, and if there is anything more that can be done as its the rest of us liveries that are looking after her until she is sold!
