My mare has recently been in season she's always a bit stroppy when in season but nothing like now!
I got the vet out to have a look at her she scanned her ovaries and took bloods and all came back ok despite the fact that my mare nearly kicked her across the stable when she touched her!
The vet has said she thinks it's hormonal and put her on Regumate but it seems bizarre that all of a sudden her seasons become that extreme, something definately isn't right.
She has had her back checked and all is ok, she let me touch her sides today as she seems to be coming out of season. I rode her as the vet said to keep on riding her lightly, it's bizarre as she started off in the school ears forward, eyes bright trotted a couple of time around the arena ok, then suddenly it was ears back, white of eyes showing and bucking it has improved to every 2-3 strides rather than every stride, I thought I would try to see what she was like in canter and over a small fences, what confuses me the most is that she was absolutely fine, eyes bright and ears forward but back into trot she bucks again, I really don't think it's naughtiness as she generally loves work.
Do you think it's hormonal, naughtiness or pain related ... Seems bizarre that it's only in trot?
