Hey all,

Just thought I would pass this your way asI'm not very good with idetifying breed types,
Bought the chap below and he is amazing - so much the gushing mummy!!!
But what is he - he has soup plates for feet !
Not great angle of pic makes him look short in back - he is no in the flesh.

thought please - I think ID but no one knows anything really about him

I'd agree. Maybe ISH x cob. He is a tad light for a draught and needs to get the colour from a cob. Lovely looking horse though.. A bit of a smasher alright..

This is my lad (on the right), Ard Solstice. He is a pure draught - but is still very light for a draught. But he being only 4 still has a lot of growing to do. He is by Ard Grandpa out of a Pride of Toames mare. Your lad isn't a million miles away!!

The very best of luck with him. He looks like a star!!

That is 110% a classic ID head, bit like one of my lot.

If he is short in the back then thats another classic trait!

V nice.

Must say thanks to all nice comments - of what little I know he prob is ID with a little something else. Had not considered that as he is coloured that is not ID so must be the something else.
Interesting comment saying he is too light to be ID - think in flesh he is far chunkier - lot of people were surprised at his size and power/presense.

He aslo has a high head carriage naturally - he looks out the stable and is 20 hand high!!!!! Is that typical ID?

Must say he is THE most fantastic natured yI have come across - soppy ndn very honest, tries so hard to please and sensible for a baby.

I cant stop grinning when I'm around him............................x

Musto - your lad is gorgeous!!!!!!! what are your plans for him?

I think the high head carriage must be Some ID. I had to buy a 510 for mine when only 15.2! Very useful in dressage though, gets great marks. Mine's ID/TB but very similar to yours - obviously not cos of the colour though. Again I've had mine since 18 months and totally get the grinning thing - now rising 5 going on 25.

High head carraige - totally ID. My mare has very high head carraige. Solly (her son) isn't as bad, but when he does his "Ooohhh, whats that" the head is in the clouds...

Plans for Solly.. Well, his mother was pure hunter / XC. No hope of dressage or SJ. So I want to start right with Sol's and get him schooled in everything. As he is only 4, I'm not doing a serious amount as he still has a lot of growing to do. My main aim at the moment is for him to get used to me and me to him. Cause the more he grows and the cockier he gets, the harder it will be. He can already argue a bit, but so far I've won all arguments. But then again, he isn't sure enough of himself to really really stamp the foot. Its more of a sulk than an actual argument with him..

Although he does have a very sensible head. His two stable mates (10 & 8 yrs old) follow him on hacks, as my 4yr old is braver!! Have to say, the ID's seem to have a wisdom and sensibleness that I totally trust and love.

Your lad is a smasher. Absolutely gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing reports on his progress in the future!!
