Any ideas please?

Hi there,
I have just seen my old 19 yr old ID xTB and he has a 'hole' type thing on his left flank. Its roughly a fist type size and is probably about an inch deep inset. Does anyone have any idea as to what it may be?

Difficult to say without seeing it, but could it be a torn muscle?

Harry once had a gate close on him as he was cantering past and it threw him into the post where the metal bar tor into his abdominal muscle right where the girth goes. It took 3-4 months for the tear to heal and after that you could always feel an indentation there. When he was retired and unfit you could actually see the indentation.

I havent called the vet yet. He has been out of work for the last 4 months now after a ligament injury so it might be something that happened a while ago that muscle was hiding...
