Hi, my boy is unshod and has been self trimming the last year doing really well. He's on box rest at the moment with increased exercise (stifle injury) and has been amazing. However he's just dropped a whole load of false sole on his hooves (which is good as I've been waiting for him to feel comfortable enough to for years) and it's left a pretty tall rim of hoof wall around the sole which I'm wondering do I get the farrier out for or not as I don't want the farrier trying to balance him up if he's not ready as he'll just throw false sole down again and walk toe first again but at the same time it really isn't great for him to be walking on the rim all the time and the frogs are starting to contract now. Here are a couple of photos (one front, one hind, both the other hooves are basically the same issue). Thank you.
