22 year old idx. currently has an abscess under her jaw but is draining and healing well.
she has dropped weight off her topline and over her quarters in the last couple of weeks. she has always been a good doer so this is not normal for her
she is very quiet almost depressed looking
not eating her usual amount of hay and is drinking loads
eating feeds and treats well
just had to clip her as she has been sweating alot and her winter coat hasnt been coming out very fast but she is molting so thinking maybe cushings
vet coming to yard tomorrow so gona get her checked but any ideas what might be wrong
been googling etc but her symptoms could be 101 things
majority of what im finding is aneamia, cushings and liver damage
what do you think

I'd pretty much echo your thoughts, and add possible virus. The symptoms you describe are indicative of many illnesses/diseases so it's difficult to say. It might be that the abscess in the jaw is part of the problem, either because it has made her whole jaw painful so she is reluctant to eat or because it has been caused by more general jaw problems such as poor teeth, sinus problems etc. Are you absolutely certain she can't have had a kick to the face and have a broken jaw? A friend's horse at my yard started to drop weight and refuse to eat his haylage. A lorry was going to our local equine vet practice and there was a spare place on it so this horse went too. It was a bit of a mystery until x-rays were taken and to everyone's amazement, badly fractured jawbone.

I agree with above!! ^^^

My 34yr old pony is still moulting.. she grew an extremely thick rather long coat and its almost out now.. but it's taken a while! (she's Part bred Newforest)

With regards to drinking.. Is your horse drinking lots more even on the cooler days?? We've had rather warm weather.. and I know that all our horses have been drinking a lot more than they had been since the weather warmed up.

good luck!
