My filly has haylage in nets as the yard she is on wont put the morning haylage in unless its in a net, but the problem is she chews right through them within 2 days so am buying new nets every weeks, has anyone any ideas how to stop this or sugest an alternitive

Ah - was going to suggest big holes.

You can get some particularly robust haynets, which are quite thick. Other than that can you put her ration in a big round rubber feeder instead??

How unreasonable - it must be costing a fortune in nets. Have you tried the big holed hessian nets, she might not like the taste of these so much. Also - how about putting lickits/swedes/toys in her stable to keep her occupied. Hope you find a solution.

Well to be fair to yo she wont stay in a field for longer than 2 hours or she trashes the fence and wont stay in with other horses at all, so he does TO out early for me for 2 hours and brings her in before anyone else turns out, tried toys and licits does not work, but maybe ill try the big holed hessian nets its worth a try

Metal hayrack???? If your yard will allow you to put one up, is more expensive at 1st but probably save you money in the long run!

I am trying Haybags as peeps on here have said they are quite good? Maybe she is chewing through it as she can't get it out quick enough! Thats my problem, mine kicks the nets cos he gets frustrated not being able to get to the hay quick enough.

How about investing in a Hay Bar?? We were not allowed to put hay loose in to the stable at my previous yard either, which could at times be a little difficult. However, the reasons were sound enough, so we just got on with it.

He just does not want it loose outside stable but wont empty it out on the floor or go in and put it in a hay rack as he feeds them all on yard and its a big yard and he does not charge for it so he wants to just tie it up and throw over for quickness i was thinking of the ball or bag are they any good, as i said in a post she wont stay out in a feild so that does not help her being in stable 22 hours per day
