My horse was lame 2 days after the farrier had been. I kept her in for 3 days and she came sound again. 4 days later (last night) she's now chronically lame on her front leg. There's no swelling or heat anywhere. She's basically hopping around her stable...anyway, farrier and vet are both out this afternoon but just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Well could be a number of things
nail prick-
abcess-
or nothing to do with foot could be
tendon
laminitis
anything really

I would wait till vet and farrier been or you will get so many ailments here it will worry you unnecessarily:)

Sounds like the right amount of time for an abscess to form from a nail prick/bind. If you have some hoof testers you could try and locate it, often you can't feel the heat if its a prick or bind.
Hope she's ok

Thanks for your replies, really appreciate it. My farrier has just been and used the testers, it certainly doesn't look like an abcess / laminitis....it looks like her tendon if I'm honest.
My vet is coming over this afternoon... :(

I think its an abscess...its my amazing veterinary knowledge that has told me that...not anything else ;)

Hope your hoof is better soon...then we can make friends properly as I'm now deciding maybe you are not all trying to eat me up.... :D
