My thoroughbred mare has had a sudden loss of appetite over the last week, showing barely any interest in roughage and cool mix where as she’d usually demolish it. Due to this she has obviously lost wait and looks really tucked up and sucken in. Over the last 2-3 days I’ve noticed she’s been sweating up, especially on the neck area and under her mane and her stools are very loose.
I fed her a carrot earlier on today and she took it and chewed it up but spat it straight back out so it’s making me think it’s to do with her throat as she has an appetite but is unable to actually swallow. She’s up to date with the dentist etc so there’s no issues there. She’s fine in herself, calling when I arrive at the stables and is still aware of everything going on around her. The vet is coming out but just thought i’d ask for some help and any suggestions in the meantime. Thanks in advance!
