any info on'epsom gesmeray' stallion que?

i remember him on the schockemohle dvd last year and the year before but this year he wasn't, instead he was on the beligneux le haras dvd.

http://www.beligneuxleharas.com/Etalons/Epsomgesmeray/epsom_gesmeray.htm

the one thing that i can rememeber is his awesome jump and the round you see of him jumping at the olympics where he looked too good for the jockey.

i expect some people have seen the 3 year old loose jumping at zangersheide called gesalme. its by epsom gesmeray out of an alme mare apparently schokemohle bred it.

this was all i could really find about him when i was looking.

maybe ken has some info about him as i'm considering using him next year.

There's an interesting thread in the Chronicles of the Horse forum on this youngster, with a number of people holding the opinion that at 2 1/2 its been over-produced, and posssibly trained in a way that many of us would disapprove of ... it may subsequently not have passed the approval as the judges were of the same opinion.

its a very controversial video, i've seen comments about it on other forums and sites. some people think it has been faked and that they can see variations in shadows etc and others as you say believe it has had some 'treatment'. we'll never know the true story, but the latter seems more realistic but to what extent... who knows?

yes it is out of an alme mare.

I know him, one of the nicest stallions I have had the pleasure of meeting. He has had some time off but is now out jumping again and up for sale.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post the website, but PM me if anyone wants to see, he is up for sale. xxx

When these old threads are pulled up to the top it is sometimes confusing.

Anyhow, I like the horse and he must be a saint to jump that track. The rider does not look to be helping him much. Will have to go look to see what his brother is called now, the horse not the rider !!

Got it, Hermes Gesmeray is also a chestnut jumping stallion. Different sire though. Follow the dam line.

The dam of both Epsom and Hermes is Renata V who is by Starter, the dam sire of Baloubet du Rouet.

I like the dam line and Epsom would be an interesting sire to use at what could be a bargain price at £460 when compared to Baloubet approx £1800. But the Baloubet price comes with a live foal guarantee, always worth consideration.
