After the sentacing on Friday, I have been doing a lot of thinking. And have come up with questions!
Would the driver have seen our impact statements that we gave just after the accident? And also another one back in February.?
I just feel that he still doesnt know the real impact he has had, and I would in an ideal world like to have some kind of meeting with him, and tell him face to face what he has done to me, and my husband, and my family. (Obviously I cant speak for Tammy, the other rider)
Does anyone know if this sort of thing is possible?

Legal box reporting for duty! Sir!

Sorry know very little about proceedure in the criminal courts but I believe that the impact statements are for the judge not the accused. I'd suggest talking to the victim support person you have been assigned (can't remember the proper title despite knowing one...) They will be able to help you work out what to do for the best. Sometimes part of the offenders rehab involves talking to the victim about the effects of their crime so I'm sure if you want to go down this route you could.

Madam, if you dont mind!!! LOL!!! Only joking!!

Thank you for that, we have a witness protection person that I can contact, I will have a think. I just feel he is now able to live his life, while I am always gonna have to live with the effects of this accident.

Yep witness protection, that will be the person to contact. They like offenders to face up to the consequences now so they are likely to be supportive of what you want to do.

It will have depended on the case officer who has to decide what is disclosed and what isnt. normally the case officer is also the discosure officer but with this sort of thing it may have only been seen by the judge as there may have been quite personal stuff in there which you may not have wanted him to know.

I thiknk councelling and poss witness protection officer would be best. I realise that you may want to tell him stuff but that is also partly why his personal details are not disclosed.

If the offemder is doing community service, it may be possible for the person monitoring this to speak to him about a meeting with you. I would ask the community service people if this would be possible. I presume that this is still dealt with by the local probation office (it was when I worked with Juvenile offenders but that was about 15 years ago!)

I was involved in a majorly bad road traffic accident nearly 5 years ago and as far as I know both sides get a full document including all statements and offical details
