Just wondering if there is any point in advertising my Prestige saddle again?

I have previously tried for around a year (prior to Covid) without much luck. At the moment, it’s sitting in my loft doing nothing, and I’m not in any desperate rush now that I have a job, but it’s also unlikely I’ll ever get to use it again unless something drastic happens.

Yes and no.

I think lots of people would rather have a second hand saddle BUT they need to know it fits so will often only buy from a fitter who stocks second hand.

I have used Patrick Wilkinson Saddles to sell before, he has been quite efficient and they have all sold. I have bought from him too.

I tried Sheepham but wasn't as happy, not that they did anything wrong, but it wasn't as quick.

With both you post them off for them to organise selling. You just wait for the money, nimbus their % commission.

I have also sold off Preloved and Facebook, but have allowed someone to buy, pay and give a refund within a week if the saddle doesn't fit. I have only dealt with local people, so they have picked up in person. One posted back, at their own risk, but it was fine.

I've never had an issue selling any of my saddles. I sold a Fairfax recently, and before that a Passier, Stübben, and Prestige.

I think it depends on the seat, flap, and tree size as far as how easy it will sell. Color, brand, condition, and price matter too. I always due some pricing research first.

I've sold through eBay mostly.

My saddle fitter sells all my saddles the last few have sold really really quickly .
Its worth the fee she charges because I get zero hassle .
This is easiest and most hassle free I think. I sold my last saddle to Colne Saddlery.
They gave me a very reasonable price, slightly less than I’d wanted but only marginally and it saved posting etc.

People who buy 2nd hand saddles on the open market expect to not pay too much for them. That's because the chances are you will have to buy 2 or 3 before getting a fit you're happy with, and will need to sell on for what they paid. They are also pricing in risk, as there could be all sorts wrong with it that aren'y immediately obvious.
Effectively the saddle has 2 values - checked and fitted, and 'sold as seen', at about 1/2 of the price, less if there's obvious scuffs or damage.
