Been toying with the idea of having a 3 hour session approx £150, but not sure of the benefits or would be better in investing this money on having a lesson on my ownhorse with some one good to point out my good and bad points.

What do you think?

I was knackered after a half hour session

I found it very useful as I'm stiff, and spend a lot of my usual lessons concentrating on the horse, and less focus on me. This helped me even up and improve my position, and I noticed a real difference when I rode my horse later that day. The one I used was surrounded by mirrors, and it's amazing how straight you sit when you can see yourself from all sides

I have had a couple of sessions at ashen on theirs they do a three hour session (only place I know) are you gonig there if so pm me if you want. I found it good but I got a computer readout of my weight during each stride etc, Its worth having something specific that you want to improve like sit trot otherwise I dont think I would have got as much out. The one I used can do left or right lead canter and you can tell the difference and i ride them both differently! If you can use your own sadldle too that is better.

hope it helps

Anyone who lets you do 3 hours is one go is crazy; thats ridiculous.

Id go for 40 minutes max if you're riding fit and have a good position. 20 - 30 minutes if you dont.

Theyre very good but only as good as the teacher thats with you so make sure you find someone credible.

Theres no way you will get anything out of 3 hours on a simulator in one go, 30 minutes really is quite enough at a time.

Who are you planning to have the sessions with as that would make a big difference to whether I think £150 is worth spending.

Surely you'd be better spending the money (or at least a big chunk of it) on real lessons on your horse? Yes, it would be good to have a session to work on your own position, but 3hrs seems an awful lot (and very expensive too), plus a lot of your riding will be affected by how your horses goes and what he/she does.

I've had some lessons on this one www.ridingsimulator.co.uk in Gloucestershire.

I found it useful up to a point. The simulator is surrounded by mirrors on all sides, so its really helpful to see your position and how and where you move. It's good for getting the rudiments of sitting trot and having the opportunity to feel the 'perfect' position.

The movement is close to the real thing, but actually easier to sit to, because there is no lateral movement. Also whereas on a normal horse I sit slightly crooked, on the simulator I found it easy to sit straight.

I think the sessions were for 45mins for the first session and then 30mins for subsequent sessions. I think they cost around £25 - £30 each.
